my mind's eye

My Mind’s Eye

When I look all around me,

It’s not hard to see what’s goin’ on,

The bad guys get the sympathy,

And it’s hard to tell what’s right from wrong,

There’s a fire on the city streets,

It’s eclipsing the moon,

But it’s all just a haze to me anyway,

Everything gets so confused;

CHORUS:

And it’s blurring my sight,

Spinning round on the wheel of life,

Feel so alone here tonight,

Here in the shadows of my mind’s eye –

Trying to see what’s going on,

Then understand what’s going wrong.

You went off with the pirates,

And they took you to lunch,

To a greasy spoon diner,

And got you so drunk;

Saw your face in a newsflash,

On the evening news,

You should never have been there,

So they had you removed;

And it’s blurring my sight,

Spinning round on the wheel of life,

Feel so alone here tonight,

Here in the shadows of my mind’s eye –

Trying to see what’s going on,

Then understand what’s going wrong.
